Why the Life Puzzle? Simplifying Wholeness.
When I was first working as a counselor and trying to help my clients on their pathway to Wholeness, one of the big challenges I had was how to translate the information I had into an easy to understand, easy to apply methodology for my clients.
While I had loved spending 10 years learning about wholeness and all the different areas this entailed in one’s life, the reality is that my clients did not have nor did they want to spend 10 years doing the same thing! They were people busy running their lives and had come to get help and expertise. And I will never forget the day when I was sitting across from a gentleman who worked as an engineer and he said to me “Ann, all this stuff about wholeness sounds great, but I really have no idea what you’re talking about. Tell me, when I get out of the bed in the morning and my feet hit the floor and my day begins, what exactly am I supposed to be doing so I end up whole?”
That question was a great gift to me as it really challenged me to create an easy way for someone to implement wholeness in their lives. Because I was sitting across from an intelligent man and while I couldn’t do what he did in engineering, he was essentially saying to me “I don’t know what you know in this field—translate it into something I can understand and use in my life so I can get healthier.” Challenge heard, challenge solved—voila, The Life Puzzle.
So, the Life Puzzle was born! It became a simple way to introduce Wholeness while turning it into a practical, tangible, real life thing. The puzzle is ‘edged’ with 5 primary edges—physical, emotional, thinking, sexual and spiritual and these contain the 16 core areas and the SELF that make up our day-to-day life. These 5 edges are formed during our childhood years and as they come together they enable us to take responsibility for our SELF and fill in the 16 core areas of our wholeness life as adults.
I know what you’re thinking “Wow—16 core areas, 5 edges that create the SELF—that’s a lot to learn! Maybe this wholeness thing is going to be a bit too much.”
So it might seem—but as you’ll see, all of the 16 core areas, 5 edges that create your SELF are already a part of your life. You’re just not consciously aware of most of them. As a result, you’re not actively developing them in your life and you’re missing out on the value they bring to your life.
The missing pieces—holes in one’s wholeness—are what you’re going to learn about here at the Life Puzzle center. It’s not rocket science and it’s not hard to implement in your life—in fact, when you finally start putting those pieces together you discover life gets easier, not harder!
Let’s look next at the Life Puzzle itself. As you’re about to discover, the Life Puzzle is a universal model—every human being on the planet is a Life Puzzle under construction. We all have the same 16 core areas, 5 edges that create the SELF yet no two of us will put those pieces together in exactly the same way. Thus, we all have a common bond with every other human being but we also have our own unique self.
